9th Annual DNA Charity Golf Classic
On September 11th, 2024, DNA Charities, Inc. presented a check for $32,000 to the UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation, bringing our lifetime donation total to over $215,000!
This donation was made possible by our 9th Annual DNA Charity Golf Classic held on Friday, June 14th, 2024 at Meadowink Golf Course in Murrysville, PA. The outing brought in 131 golfers and 34 sponsors!
During our charity golf outing, golfers got the chance to participate in on-course games, a 50/50 drawing, a basket raffle, and an online auction! This year's prizes included signed Pittsburgh Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes gear, admission passes to a collection of Pittsburgh museums and activity centers, and gift cards to restaurants and bakeries across Westmoreland and Allegheny County!
All proceeds from the games and raffles were added to our total donation to the UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Pre-Game Fun
This year's golf outing began with registration at 6:45am with live music by Common Ground. Before heading out onto the course, golfers were given cooler bags, courtesy of Bank of America. The coolers were stuffed with goodies like golf balls, extra tees, DNA hats, and cigars from Starr Insurance.
During registration, golfers purchased 50/50 tickets, raffle tickets, and mulligans while picking up their free t-shirt. Our basket raffle consisted of over 30 donations from business! Restaurants, activity centers, and organizations from across Western Pennsylvania and even North Carolina helped out! Also, we had an online auction for bigger items where participants could place bids on the item they wanted!
On The Course
Golfers teed off around 8:30am and got to showcase their skills in Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin contests on holes 2 and 6. This year's Hole-in-One contest was sponsored by Smail Auto Group with a cash prize of $30,000 on hole 7! Hole 11 tested golfer's precision with a chance to win a prize if their first swing landed within 10 feet of the hole. They also had a chance to press their luck with our Spin the Wheel and Guess the Tees games! On the turn, we had hot dogs and a putting contest as a quick pit stop for participants between holes.
Following the round, golfers headed to the up to the pavilion. Here we held the basket raffle, 50/50, a delicious lunch courtesy of Rizzo's Malabar Inn, and a live music performance by Life of Brian in the barn. After the winning team was announced and all baskets were won, we finished off the day with Happy Hour in the club house with live music by The Licks!
DNA Donates $32,000 To the UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation
We are grateful to assist the UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation in the mission to ensure excellence in patient care, teaching, and research. Our Charity Golf Classic is the Foundation's largest donating golf event, and we hope our charity golf outings will continue to be a successful way to give back to the Foundation and show our appreciation for all that it does.
