October 23, 2020 – In recent months, the states of Louisiana and Texas have had the challenge of recovering from multiple hurricanes and tropical storms. Hurricane Laura was a destructive Category 4 storm that hit Texas and Louisiana at the end of August 2020. Shortly after, Tropical Storm Marco hit the Gulf Coast. Many of our field staff in these areas were affected by these unfortunate tragedies. Dedicated Nursing Associates (DNA) decided that we should work together to help our employees and their communities in any way that we could.
We formed ten different teams to raise money for the Gulf Coast division of Family Promise. Beginning on September 24th, teams were able to hold a fundraising activity of their choice. Some fundraising events included a virtual talent show, pet contest, bake sale, basket raffles and more. Our fundraisers took place over three weeks.
As a result of all our fundraising events, DNA raised $1,657 for the Family Promise Organization. This nonprofit works hard every day to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence. Family Promise specializes in providing shelter, meals and support to families without homes. We hope that DNA’s donation can be used to help those affected by the recent hurricanes and tropical storms.
